The pattern behind this map is climatic, not accidental: cash-crop belts (rubber, cocoa, coffee, tea, plantation crops generally) cluster in the tropics, where year-round heat, humidity and rainfall support them without any killing frost, while grain, dairy and mixed-farming belts cluster in the temperate mid-latitudes, where seasonal variation instead favours mechanisation and crop-livestock complementarity. Mediterranean agriculture is the deliberate outlier — a climate-defined belt of wet, mild winters and dry, hot summers found nowhere else — which is exactly why it grows a crop mix (citrus, grapes, olives) found in none of the other systems.
